In the state of Queensland, where Brisbane is located, you are allowed to drive on a valid overseas driver's license for up to 3 months from the date you last entered Australia. After that, you will need to convert your overseas license to a Queensland driver's license in order to continue driving. Taking driving lessons on an overseas license is allowed as long as it is valid.
